Brian focuses on real estate litigation and representing plaintiffs in personal injury and wrongful death claims. Along with these practice areas, his expertise ranges from business law and contracts to DMV hearings and criminal defense.
At the trial level, Brian has argued cases in state and federal courts across Western North Carolina. His appellate experience includes briefing matters before the United States Supreme Court and Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, and he has presented oral arguments in both the North Carolina Supreme Court and N.C. Court of Appeals.
On the transactional side, Brian is regularly called on to assist with real estate closings, wills and trusts, business incorporation, and estate administration and probate proceedings.
Before joining forces with Joe Bowman, Brian spent several years at DRP Law Firm in Asheville, NC. After that, he enjoyed a brief stint in joint-practice with Joel B. Stevenson, PLLC, also based in Asheville. Both firms are now closed following the retirements of their founding members.
Prior to entering the legal profession, Brian worked in government, where his experiences ranged from social work and Medicaid/Social Security disability to investigating welfare fraud. He also spent a number of years in the construction and building industries.
Brian was born in Asheville and is a fifth-generation native to Western North Carolina. He grew up living in West Asheville and Madison County, where he attended public schools and enjoyed playing several sports in high school, including football, wrestling, and track & field. Today, he is an avid spectator of pro football and college basketball, rooting hard for UNC Tar Heels athletics and the Carolina Panthers. His other interests include whitewater boating, trout and muskie fishing, woodworking, and target shooting.
